Orange Marmalade Baked French Toast
Our recipe for March is definitely one of our guests’ favorites and asked-for recipes – and of course we have to serve Vermont maple syrup in March as it is maple sugaring month.
1 challah – cut into 6 slices and then diagonally in half
3/4 cup orange juice
3 cups heavy cream
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
Rind of one orange, grated
Arrange bread in greased pan. Combine all ingredients until well combined. Pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Bring to room temperature. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 55 minutes.
4 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup orange marmalade
2 tablespoons orange liqueur
Combine all ingredients and cook over low heat, stirring, until butter is melted.
Spread sauce over french toast pieces and top with warm maple syrup.
